Sony VCTMTK Travel Tripod for Compatible Sony Cameras & Camcorders Review

Sony VCTMTK Travel Tripod for Compatible Sony Cameras and Camcorders

An excellent purchase that lives up to the Sony name. My main concern before buying it was that it would swivel enough that I could point my mini-camera straight down to take macro photos of documents. It does this easily, and the legs don't get in the way. It's small enough to chuck in my backpack and take it all the time in case I need it, and it has its own little sturdy fabric carrying bag so that it doesn't get tangled up in anything else. Overall, I would rate it as excellent.

Aiptek PJV11X PocketCinema V10 Portable Projector (Silver) Review

Aiptek PJV11X PocketCinema V10 Portable Projector (Silver)
Average Reviews:

The whole concept of PICO projectors is very new. I did a bit of research before deciding to buy a PICO projector and the following conclusions made me ultimately purchase this product:
-I'm an early adopter
-I'm tech savy
-I'm mobile
-I love gadgets
-I like to be the first to try something out
There are many applications for this product, but before I go into my uses and thoughts I should point out that this device does take a certain knowledge concepts like JPEG, MPEG, MP3 and file conversion. You don't have to be a tech genius to work this device at all, but it helps to have a basic understanding.
Overall, this product delivers on the concept of having a reliable, portable, multi-format projector in an extremely compact size. It's about the size of your average digital camera or a little bigger than an Ipod but for what it is capable of, I find it to be extremely small. You can truly fit the device in your pocket.
It uses multiple methods of attaining images to project. You can use an SD card (which I found easiest) or you can load files onto the device. You can also use AV cables with the included adapter. Some AV devices do have a direct connection cable that would work but I'm not sure what the size or standard for that would be. For example. I was able to connect my Wii directly to the device with the AV cables and Video and sound were both functioning.
Depending on how close you are to the projection destination (I use a white wall) your image can actually be quite bright. Is it the crispest image ever? No . But it is pretty remarkable for the size. Color saturation is also decent. I didn't notice any lag when playing video files on the device.
Battery life was pretty good, I get about an hour depending on what I am doing but you can also keep the device plugged in.
I was able to do a complete power point presentation with the device by converting the files to JPEG (right in PPT). My audience was very impressed that I had the whole presentation, including projection in my pocket.
I was able to project the image from the device all the way across my room. Im complete darkness it worked fine but you may want to be closer to your receiving source (e.g. the wall) if you aren't able to have complete darkness.
Overall, if you are looking for a cool gadget that does what it says, then I would recommend this product. Keep in mind that this is a balance between projection, price and portability. If you find yourself matching one of my criteria then you will certainly enjoy this product.

This flash/video light is small, compact, much like flash units used to be.
Unfortunately, when mine arrived, it would not work. In contacting Acephoto they said they would send me another, which they did within two days. This flash works, altho I have not done extensive work with it. My presumption is that the unit is quite fragile so that if I have more difficulty I'll be back in touch.
The flash works without wiring, getting the light signal from my camera's flash, which means I could use it as a remote unit, which I like. If this one works well I would get another for remote slave, since it is not particularly powerful.

Westcott Photo Basics 5' x 8' 584 Background (Slate) Review

Westcott Photo Basics 5' x 8' 584 Background (Slate)

I bought 3 of these backdrops in Azure, Cinnamon and Twilight. I like them alot. If you look at the images for these mine are the two child shots. I bought 5 feet of white baseboard and clamped it to the bottom of the backdrop and I was set. They are a nice weight and photograph well. The blue shows up a tad lighter in the picture then it actually is but thats because I had quite a lot of light coming in. I expect these to be great for Senior headshots as well.

VADO VF0624 3G Camcorder with 2x Optical Zoom and 2-inch LCD Screen - CYAN Review

VADO VF0624 3G Camcorder with 2x Optical Zoom and 2-inch LCD Screen - CYAN
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Vado is my favorite brand when it comes to pocket size "HD" camcorders, even at 720p and 30 fps the 2nd generation was one of my favorite for its crisp frames, very wide lens, and color contrast. I was very glad to hear that the 3rd generation came out (due to some issues with the low sound quality, over-saturated colors, over-exposure of sky and other little nuances with the 2nd generation). Then i saw this... (!)
The 3rd gen. Vado HD has half the memory (4GB) and as such can only record 1 hour of HD+ footage (as opposed to 2 hrs with the 2nd gen). And it still comes with no external memory slot. The nice matte, scratch resistant and fingerprint free finish is now gone. And the buttons that were previously neatly located and easy to press and navigate are now a touch-sensitive surface that you can easily brush (thus press) and not ever realize it. Still the camera does not have optical zoom (understandable for its size), still no image stabilization (still ok since at that price range, most digital-IS does nothing and optics take space) but still no 60fps or 1080p settings much un-like most of its competition. In addition, the memory is now cut in half and there is no way to add more!
The addition of motion detection is a 'fun' feature, but i don't see when mainstream users would take advantage of that.
Personally i would -much- rather see a timelapse feature (like the Samsung pocket cameras have), which is great for sky-scapes.
Alternatively, the ability to double as a web camera (like the Sony Webbie) would also be good and perhaps useful.
The 3rd gen also takes pictures, which (even at 1280x720) is a minor plus due to their low quality and the fact that you can always take frames out of video files and use them as pictures - that's what the Vado's software does anyway.
The manual light-adjusting setting works pretty fine, but i always have to be careful not to touch the buttons and activate them by accident.
Color-wise, the 3rg gen seems closer to reality, without over-saturating reds/greens that much. As a result the video looks more natural but also not as lively or vivid as the 2nd gen. I guess that is a matter of personal preference.
When it comes to sound, the 3rd gen seems slightly louder, but it also comes with an external mic input for more demanding users or situations. I think that's a great addition over the previous model.
Finally, when it comes to the crispness of each frame of the film, some was unfortunately lost. This is sad, because the previous Vado still has the sharpest video-frames i have seen coming out of any pocket size camera i have ever used (which includes Sony, Kodak, Samsung, and Aiptek). I have a lot of side-by-side footage comparing the Sony, Samsung, and both versions of the Vado HD, it is all on YouTube, if you are interested, let me know.
--- Video comparison: This model (3rd gen) on the left, Previous model (2nd gen) on the right. For the same video with much better detail and clarity, watch the original on yougube at: [...]
So, overall, we had a pretty great 2nd gen. Vado HD.. and instead of adding a much needed memory card slot, and perhaps adding a color option (i.e. vivid vs. normal) to give the user a change to choose whether high color saturation is desired or not, or maybe add a 60fps or 1080p setting.. we got a 4GB / 1 hour / glossy / colorful camera that can detect motion!! My suggestions to Creative: Drop the internal memory all together (if some is needed for usb connection/drivers/codec/etc, just use that much), ADD a micro-SD memory card reader, add manual controls for saturation/contrast/light, keep the external mic and HDMI out, keep the replaceable battery, and do not downgrade the currently high data-rate of more than 4Mbps @ HD and more than 8Mbps @ HD+ (which is great to be able to record at these high bit rates - and imo larger files with quality are better than small useless ones, we can always compress later)

One light touch on the touch-sensitive buttons and you can start recording instantly in high-definition quality. Lightweight and extremely compact, enjoy up to 120 minutes of widescreen HD quality video on the move. Don't cramp your style with additional camera equipment as the Vado HD (3rd Gen) comes equipped with a photo feature that lets you shoot up to 7,000 of widescreen still shots. The video enthusiast in you will be thrilled at how much more you can achieve with the multi-function jack and the improved Vado Central 3.0 software. With the multi-function port, you can connect a handy microphone to the Vado HD (3rd Gen) for better audio recording and come playback time, simply plug in your own headphones to listen to the videos at a desired volume level. Sharing your happy times with others truly does not come easier than this! «0;less

The zipper doesn't work properly on the case. It has that double zipper from either end and the teeth on the zipper doesn't catch so it gaps open. I'll give it a one star. I like the concept of the case but not the construction...
