Tamrac end-opening case: Good protection but slipping the G11 in and out rotates the knobs. Also the hot shoe catches on a seam coming out. (This was my old A650 case, but any well-fitting, end-opening case can silently change the G11's knob settings.)
Canon PSC5100 top-opening leather case: Great looking and good impact protection, but a tight fit. The case was designed for the slightly smaller G10. Case was stretched by the G11 but I need the case's unprotected end holes to get hold of the G11 and wiggle it out.
Half dollar sized end holes must be in the Canon case so the camera's neck strap can be used as the case's strap too. I don't attach the neck strap Canon provides with the G11. Instead I use a thin, short, wrist strap which goes easily into all three cases.
Caselogic TBC-303 top-opening fabric case is conveniently zippered and fits G11 nicely, but the flexible case lets you accidentally push the "on" button. Fortunately the G11, like others, seems designed to tolerate this misstep, soon giving up trying to extend the lens.
If you carry your camera in a front trouser pocket, as I do, then the Caselogic seems best. It is thinner than the Canon with its extra leather flap and its stiffness. The Caselogic also collapses when empty so it is easy to stuff back in my pocket when the camera is out.
If I were carrying the G11 in a day pack or purse I would use the Canon case. With its stiff edges and extra leather it seems like better protection when banging into something.
