(More customer reviews)I used this product to help me video our family cooking in the kitchen last Christmas. I have been videoing Christmas cooking with our family for about 7 years now but this year I picked up a 3 HD camcorders and wide angle lenses for each. I have tripods for the HD camcorders but 3 of them in the kitchen was just not going to work.
A friend recommended this product and it worked fine. The Gorillapod is very light so don't put it on anything that vibrates. I had one camera/Gorillapod on top of the fridge, one attached the the curtain rod of the kitchen window and one on the counter top. The counter top camera was kinda in the way so next year it's going to be hung (using the Gorillapod) from beneath the cabinets.
I used the counter top camera to capture the food preparation. The fridge camera (covered the entire kitchen) was my fall back camera in case the other 2 cameras were either blocked by someone or nothing was going on.
Some of you who read this might be saying "The Gorillapod is $50, I can just use a $10 mini tripod". That is true, if you can get by with something else you should. To be honest the only spot I really needed the Gorillapod was the curtain rod of the kitchen window. However this was the money shot. The curtain rod camera (about 7 ft high) was used to overlook the kitchen table where all the Polish goodies were prepared. I could not have gotten this shot with any tripod.
If you saw the finished video you would think you were watching a cable cooking show. Without the Gorillapod I could not have gotten the look I wanted. When the elder ladies who did the cooking watched the finished video they were happy because they knew that they could show their cooking skills and recipe secrets to future generations long after they've gone.
